About PromptPro
PromptPro is a local-first prompt library, prompt builder, and prompt capture app for macOS. It helps you save reusable prompts, organize them in project folders, keep editable versions, generate model-ready output, and quickly reuse prompts from the floating picker or macOS Services.
Core workflows such as saving prompts, searching, editing versions, importing, exporting, backing up, and restoring the prompt database run on your Mac.
System Requirements
- A Mac that can run the current Mac App Store version of PromptPro.
- Optional AI assist features may require LM Studio or an external provider that you configure yourself.
- Optional browser capture workflows require the PromptPro Chrome extension and native messaging host.
Getting Started
- Open PromptPro.
- Create a project folder for your prompt collection.
- Add a prompt with a title, tags, notes, and prompt text.
- Use search, folders, and the floating picker to reuse saved prompts.
- Use import, export, backup, and restore tools to manage your local library.
Common Issues
Saved prompts do not appear in search
- Confirm you are searching the correct folder or scope.
- Check titles, tags, notes, base prompts, system prompts, and generated prompt text for the search term.
- Restart PromptPro if recently imported prompts have not appeared yet.
Floating picker or paste actions do not work
- Confirm PromptPro is allowed to use Accessibility permission in macOS System Settings when cross-app paste actions are needed.
- Try copying a prompt manually to confirm the destination app accepts pasted text.
- Restart PromptPro after changing macOS permissions.
Chrome extension capture does not work
- Confirm the PromptPro app and the PromptPro Chrome extension are both installed.
- Confirm the native messaging host is installed and enabled.
- Try capturing selected text from a normal web page instead of a restricted browser page.
AI assist does not respond
- Check the AI provider settings in PromptPro.
- For LM Studio, confirm the local server is running and the selected model is loaded.
- For an external provider, confirm the endpoint, model name, and API key are correct.
- External API keys are stored in your macOS Keychain.
Privacy
PromptPro does not require a PromptPro cloud account. The app's core prompt library, prompt editing, search, import, export, backup, restore, Services, pasteboard, and native-host workflows run locally on your Mac.
