About URLPro
URLPro is a macOS bookmark manager for collecting, organizing, importing, exporting, backing up, and opening bookmarks across browsers. It supports folders, tags, smart folders, reading lists, favorites, notes, account labels, subscription reminders, event details, location details, web metadata, Lite Browser previews, and optional AI-assisted organization.
URLPro is designed around local-first workflows. Core bookmark management, search, import, export, backup, restore, and database maintenance run on your Mac.
System Requirements
- macOS 14.6 or later.
- A Mac that can run the current Mac App Store version of URLPro.
- Optional sync features require iCloud to be available and enabled on your Mac.
- Optional AI features may require LM Studio, Brave Search, or an external provider that you configure yourself.
Getting Started
- Open URLPro.
- Drag a link from a browser into URLPro, import a supported bookmark file, or add a bookmark manually.
- Use the sidebar to browse folders, smart folders, tag folders, dates, sources, favorites, and reading lists.
- Select a bookmark to edit details in the Inspector.
- Double-click a bookmark, or use Open Bookmark, to choose the browser URLPro should use.
URLPro uses the macOS app sandbox. If an import, export, backup, or restore location stops working after it is moved or renamed, choose the file or folder again so macOS can grant access to the new location.
Restore Purchase
If you bought a URLPro license tier through the Mac App Store, you can restore it from inside URLPro.
- Open URLPro.
- Open Settings.
- Select the License section.
- Click Restore Purchases.
Use the same Apple ID that made the original purchase. If restore still fails, restart URLPro, confirm you are signed in to the Mac App Store, and try again.
Common Issues
Browser bookmarks do not import
- Confirm the source file is a supported bookmark export or browser bookmark file.
- If macOS asks for file access, select the file or folder that contains the bookmarks.
- If the browser stores bookmarks in a synced or protected location, export bookmarks from the browser and import that file into URLPro.
Bookmarks open in the wrong browser
- Check the browser selected in the bookmark or Open Bookmark dialog.
- Confirm the target browser is installed and enabled in URLPro settings.
- Choosing Default opens the link with your current macOS default browser.
iCloud sync does not update
- Confirm iCloud is enabled for the same Apple Account on each Mac.
- Check that URLPro's sync setting is enabled, then restart URLPro after changing sync settings.
- Allow time for CloudKit to finish syncing larger bookmark libraries or recent imports.
API keys, passwords, or account fields are missing
- Passwords and API keys are stored in macOS Keychain, not directly in the bookmark database.
- If a Keychain prompt appears, approve access so URLPro can read the saved secret.
- Exports may intentionally omit password and API key values. Use URLPro backup and restore guidance when moving a full working setup.
AI or Brave Search features do not respond
- Check the AI or browser/search settings in URLPro.
- For LM Studio, confirm the local server is running and the selected model is loaded.
- For an external provider or Brave Search, confirm the endpoint, model or search settings, and API key are correct.
Privacy
URLPro does not require a URLPro cloud account. The app's core workflows run locally on your Mac. Optional features send selected data outside your Mac only when you enable or use them.
