CntrlPro Terms and EULA

Effective date: June 20, 2026

Important: CntrlPro is distributed outside the Mac App Store. By downloading, installing, or using CntrlPro, you agree to these Terms and End User License Agreement.

System-change risk: CntrlPro can stop processes, modify fan behavior, edit /etc/hosts, manage Homebrew services and Docker containers, and remove local caches. These actions can interrupt work, remove data, or affect system behavior.

Use CntrlPro at your own risk. Do not use a feature unless you understand its effect, have reviewed the confirmation, and have backed up important data and configuration.

1. Parties and Scope

These Terms and End User License Agreement (EULA) are between you and BitByBit (the Publisher) for CntrlPro and its associated documentation, updates, helper components, and website materials (collectively, the Software).

If you do not agree to these terms, do not download, install, or use the Software.

2. License

Subject to these terms, the Publisher grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software on Macs that you own or control. This license does not transfer ownership of the Software or its intellectual-property rights to you.

You may not copy, sell, sublicense, rent, lease, distribute, reverse engineer, decompile, modify, or create derivative works from the Software except where applicable law expressly permits that activity and cannot be excluded by contract.

3. System Changes and Your Responsibility

The Software provides tools that can inspect and change local system and developer settings. Depending on the feature you choose, it can terminate or force-quit processes, manage fan behavior through a privileged helper, edit /etc/hosts, manage Homebrew services or Docker containers, remove caches, change Finder hidden-file visibility, and perform other confirmed local actions.

You are responsible for deciding whether to use these features, understanding their effect, reviewing every confirmation, maintaining backups, and ensuring that you have authority to change the relevant Mac, files, services, containers, and network configuration.

Do not use destructive or system-changing features when you are unsure how they work. Use automatic fan control by default. Force quitting applications, cleaning caches, changing service or container state, editing hosts entries, and changing fan behavior may cause data loss, downtime, configuration errors, loss of unsaved work, hardware stress, or other adverse effects.

4. Privileged Helper and Permissions

Some features require macOS permissions, including notifications, Full Disk Access, login-item approval, or installation of CntrlPro's privileged fan-control helper. You choose whether to grant these permissions and can revoke them through macOS System Settings or other macOS controls.

The privileged helper is intended only for supported local fan-control operations. You are responsible for using manual and curve-based fan controls only on supported hardware and for monitoring the Mac while those modes are active.

5. Third-Party Tools

CntrlPro can inspect or manage local tools such as Homebrew, Docker, macOS system utilities, and Finder. Those tools are not provided by the Publisher and remain subject to their own licenses, documentation, and terms.

The Publisher does not guarantee compatibility with every Mac model, storage device, external enclosure, Docker configuration, Homebrew installation, system extension, or third-party tool.

6. No Warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Software is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, accuracy, and compatibility.

The Software is not designed, intended, or certified for use in environments where a failure could lead to death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental damage.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Publisher will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, business, goodwill, hardware availability, or system configuration arising from or related to the Software or these terms.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, the Publisher's total liability will be limited to the amount you paid for the Software in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

8. Updates, Support, and Termination

The Publisher may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue the Software or support at any time. Updates may change, remove, or add features and may require you to accept updated terms.

This license ends automatically if you breach these terms. On termination, you must stop using the Software and remove it from your Macs.

9. Privacy

CntrlPro's local data processing and optional macOS permissions are described in the CntrlPro Privacy Policy. The privacy policy is part of the information provided with the Software but does not expand the license granted by this EULA.

10. Changes to These Terms

The Publisher may update these terms when the Software, its distribution, or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Continued use after a change takes effect means that you accept the updated terms to the extent permitted by law.
